Navel Public Outreach Meeting – Everett, WA

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is considering Naval Station Everett (NSE) as a potential location to perform limited maintenance work on the Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX). MDA develops, tests, and fields an integrated Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and also works closely with U.S. Commanders to protect our nation and deployed forces around the world.

NSE is one of only three West Coast locations that can facilitate specific deep-water maintenance requirements of SBX. Two other possible locations being considered are Todd Shipyards in Seattle and Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego.

MDA is currently conducting an Environmental Assessment (EA) to assess potential environmental effects. As part of the EA, the Navy will be hosting two public outreach events in Everett and Langley to discuss the proposed project. The attached release is provided for your awareness and will be distributed to media tomorrow. Please do not hesitate to call our Public Affairs Office if we may provide further information at (425) 304-3202.
