ANNEXATION

Annexation is the process used by cities to bring surrounding areas within their Urban Growth Area (UGA) into city limits. Annexation is consistent with the policies established in the States Growth Management Act (GMA) where cities should provide urban services.  

SOUTHWEST ANNEXATION

On February 23, the Lake Stevens City Council passed a Resolution (2009-1), calling for an election pursuant to CH 35A.14. RCW; the Resolution submits the proposal for annexation and simultaneous adoption of the proposed zoning regulations to the qualified voters of the Southwest Annexation Area, as described and shown herein (SEE MAP). A ballot was presented to the qualified voters living within the proposed annexation area on the November 3, 2009, General Election.

SOUTHWEST ANNEXATION UPDATE

The November 3, General Election was certified on November 24, 2009,and the vote for annexation has passed in favor of Annexation. The effective date of the annexation will be December 31, 2009.  Residents living in the proposed annexation area will begin to be served by the City of Lake Stevens on that date.  In the next week or so residents in the newly annexed area will receive in the mail a
