Do I need a building permit?
Yes, if you are building any structure that is 120 square feet or larger or is attached to another building.  If your structure is under 120 square feet, no permits are required; however, you shall meet required setbacks. The City also requires permits for fences, decks and docks. Permit forms are available at the Permit Center on the City Hall Campus. 

Do I need a pet license?
Yes, if you live in the City limits you need a pet license for dogs and cats.  The lifetime tag is $20 and issued at City Hall.

What do I do if my pet is picked up by Animal Control?
If your pet has a license, the Police Department will attempt to notify you.  If your pet is missing, contact the Police Department at 334-9537 or the Everett Animal Shelter at 257-6000.

Do we have a listing of job opportunities with the City?

How do I register to vote?
Voter Registration is now done by mail.  Registration forms are available at City Hall or at the Library.

Who do I call when a street light is out?
Call Snohomish County PUD directly at 425-258-8230.

How do I report a pothole or other hazardous street condition?
Call the Public Works Department at (425) 377-3222 during regular office hours
(8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) or after hours dial “911” if it is an emergency.

Where do I get a business license?
City business licenses are obtained through the State Department of Licensing www.dol.wa.gov or contact City Hall at (425) 334-1012.  License fee is $40.00 plus $15.00 State processing fee.   Annual renewal fee is $25.00.  Click here for more online information.

Do I need a permit to solicit or peddle in the residential area of Lake Stevens?
Yes.  A peddler/solicitor permit may be obtained at City Hall.  It will take several weeks to process this license.

Do I need a business license for a home-based business?
Yes. 

Where can I get a concealed weapons permit?
You can apply for your permit at the Lake Stevens Police Station located at 2211 Grade Road.

Where can I apply for a passport?
You may apply at the Lake Stevens Police Station, 2211 Grade Road.  Call (425) 334-9537 for passport processing days and times.

Where do I pay City of Lake Stevens traffic tickets and other fines?
These can either be mailed to Lake Stevens City Hall at P.O. Box 257 Lake Stevens, WA  98258, or paid in person at City Hall.  Please remember tickets are only held for 15 days and then they are sent to Marysville Municipal Court at which time they can no longer be paid to City Hall.

When and where can I get fingerprinted?
The Lake Stevens Police Department fingerprints during regular office hours Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  The cost is $10.00/two cards if you live or work in the City and $20/two cards if you live outside the City limits – fees are subject to change.

What is Aquafest / When is it?
Aquafest is the annual celebration that takes place the last weekend in July.  The celebration features a Grand Parade and Children’s Parade, Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, Arts & Crafts, Runs, Music in the Park, the Bite of Lake Stevens, Fireworks and many other events.

When will the aerator be turned on?
The aeration system which is located on the westerly end of the lake is generally operated from June to November. It operates from compressed air generated in a building along Lundeen Parkway. The aerator puts oxygen into the lake to reduce the occurrence and intensity of algae blooms and improves the fish habitat.
