Honorable Mayor Vern Little, a resident of Lake Stevens for nearly 25 years, was elected mayor in November 2007. Previous to that he was a member of the City Council for three years.
Experience
Vern recently retired after working for over 35 years for the Boeing Company, where he was responsible for an organization of 160 employees, as well as developing and managing a budget of several million dollars. His career at Boeing is where he has developed solid communication, team building, and working-together skills, making him a solid leader for the City of Lake Stevens.
Community Involvement
Vern has been active in the community in a variety of ways. He was an active member (13 years) and past-president of the Lake Stevens Junior Athletic Club. He also coached basketball, baseball, and football for several years.
Among his committee and board positions:
- Previous co-chairman of the Snohomish County Tomorrow, a growth-management advisory council that deals with countywide planning issues
- Member of the Department of Emergency Management
- Member of the Highway 9 Coalition
- Member of the Affordable Housing Group

Vern and his wife, Kathy, are parents and grandparents.
