CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
Under the command of the Chief of Police and direct supervision of a sergeant, detectives perform work related primarily to the investigation of felony criminal cases and to build a case sufficient for filing of criminal charges with the city, state, or federal prosecutor’s office. The division is responsible for the investigation of major crimes to include homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, sexual assault, child physical and/or sexual abuse, serial crimes, arson, and any other reported incident or crime assigned for follow up.
Detectives are cross-trained to respond and investigate all crimes reported. Types of crimes typically investigated include: burglary, robbery, thefts, assaults, vehicle thefts, fraud, forgery, sexual assault, child abuse, and death investigations.
The Criminal Investigations Division is currently comprised of a detective sergeant and two detectives. The division is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to major incidents that occur within the city limits of Lake Stevens . The division also works in conjunction with surrounding local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, and retailers to actively pursue and prosecute criminal activity.
