How do I report a need for services after regular working hours? If it is an emergency, call 911. The City has staff standing by during all non-regular hours that can respond for emergencies. If it is not an emergency, you can leave a message at (425)-377-3235 and the report will be reviewed on the next regular working day. What is considered an emergency service? An emergency would be considered any situation where there is a clear and present safety exposure to the public. Some examples would be a stop sign knock downs, a tree blocking a public roadway, flooding on a public street, a mud slide into a roadway, or a street light knocked down. If in doubt, call 911 to report a situation. If it is not an emergency call (425) 377-3235. How do I get on the City's Small Works Roster? The City uses Municipal Research Service Center (MRSC) to provide the small works roster. Service providers interested can register online through MRSC by Clicking here. What is a public right-of-way? This is land that has been dedicated for the public use. Most commonly this land is used for the construction of public roadway improvements that can include streets, sidewalks, storm drainage and public utilities. Not all street are located on public right-of-way. How can I find out if a parcel of land is public or private? All properties within the City are identified by Snohomish County's Assessor Office. You can view a parcel map on the Assessor's site that provides this information at County's Assessor site. On this site, select SCOPI to navigate through the Assessor's map. Who maintains the storm pond in my development? Storm ponds can be public or private. The City provides maintenance only on public ponds. Private ponds are required to regularly be cleaned and maintained by the associated homeowners. You can contact the City at (425) 377-3235 to find out if a pond is public or private. What maintenance is required to the storm pond owned by my HOA? Typical maintenance activities include removing vegetation, excavating accumulated sediment, and checking the control outlet structure for proper operations. Click here to view a list of licensed contractors (provided by Snohomish County). How is the lake level controlled? The City manages the lake level during the mid spring to early fall. This is accomplished using a weir. Several times a week the lake level is monitored. Adjustment are made to the weir according to control the elevation of the lake to try to maintain a perferred elevation for recreational usage. The City has developed a Lake Level Management Plan that is used as a guideline in making decision on the setting of the weir elevation. The elevation of the weir and past lake level history can be viewed here.
What does the Aerator do for the Lake? The aerator provides oxygen to the deepest part of the lake to help control the release of phosphorus within the lake's sediment. This in turn helps to control algae blooms in the warmer parts of the year. It is typically turned on in mid to late July and turned off around October. Click for more information. In 2009 Tetra Tech performed a study on the aerator and future options. Click to view this report. |
